Why I Like Lenexa

Our many smaller neighborhood parks. In Ward 4 alone, there’s Green Prairie, Scouting, Trafalgar, Mullen, Kickapoo, Flat Rock Creek and Bradshaw Parks. Did you know Bradshaw Park in Old Town Lenexa was named for the Bradshaw family? Squire Charles A. Bradshaw, who owned 160 acres in the area, sold railroad right-of-way on the condition that the railroad would maintain a depot on the land so trains would stop thus creating more business. Bradshaw sold 41.5 acres abutting the railroad to Octave Chanute, a civil engineer, who platted the original town of Lenexa in 1869.
